Deputy President Kithure Kindiki says the government is preparing measures to cushion Kenyans from possible food shortages following poor rains in key cereal-growing regions. Kindiki says the country is expecting a lower harvest in the coming weeks, with El Niño rains forecast between October and January. He says the government will support farmers with subsidised farm inputs to help boost production during the October to December planting season.
