The Senate has rejected a petition seeking the establishment of a legal framework allowing Kenyans to recall the President and county governors before the end of their terms. The petition, filed by Nakuru-based activist Laban Omusundi, was dismissed after the Senate Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee found that Parliament lacks the constitutional authority to enact such a law. The committee said the proposal conflicts with the Constitution, which already provides specific procedures for the removal of the President and governors.
