Kenyan content creator 2mbili has opened up about a gruelling encounter with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). He was summoned following the tragic death of musician Rachel Wandeto.
2mbili revealed he was treated as a person of interest. He spent nearly a full day inside the interrogation room. This session was part of the investigation into the death of the artist, who was famously known for her tattoo of President William Ruto.
A Lengthy Interrogation
The content creator described the intensity of the questioning. He arrived early in the morning to face the detectives.
"I was grilled for almost eight hours," 2mbili stated. The session began at dawn and lasted until late afternoon. "From 6 am, I was released around 4 in the evening," he added.
The Famous Tattoo
Rachel Wandeto became a public figure after tattooing the President’s face on her body. 2mbili was the first person to interview her about the artwork. This interview reportedly took place during a Warembo na Ruto gathering in Nairobi.
"There were people who said I was the one who told her to draw the tattoo so we could make money with it," 2mbili explained. He denied these claims during the interrogation. He provided digital evidence to clear his name.
"I showed them her messages of her reaching out to me at 2 am," he said. He noted that she specifically wanted her story to reach the President.
Theories Behind the Tragedy
Rachel Wandeto died after being sprayed with acid by unknown assailants. Several theories were investigated. Some believed she was targeted for her political stance. Others suspected she had been promised a large sum of money.
"The story that came out was that she had been given some package," 2mbili remarked. He noted that the attackers might have been looking for that money. "They killed her before the money reached her," he said.
A History of Survival
The interview also touched on 2mbili’s personal brushes with death. He has survived multiple road accidents. Many of these incidents were caused by exhaustion from his busy work schedule.
