More than 1.34 million people died and nearly 51 million were injured in road crashes globally in 2023, according to a report released today Lancet Public Health. Road injuries remain one of the world's leading causes of premature death and disability. Researchers say over 90 percent of fatalities occur in low- and middle-income countries, calling for stronger road safety measures.
