Controversial Kenyan forex trader Nebz Mordechai has stirred fresh conversation online following blunt remarks about wealth and parenting.
Speaking in a recent interview alongside his wife and fellow trader, Nyathira during Kenyan Prince’s apology event to girlfriend Stephanie Ngunjiri, Mordechai targeted the decision-making habits of those living in poverty.
The couple spoke with an entertainment journalist about their lifestyle and the labels often attached to their success. During the exchange, Mordechai claimed that financial struggles are often the result of poor personal choices, specifically regarding when to start a family.
The Logic of ‘Calculation’
Mordechai argued that wealthy individuals approach parenthood with a level of planning that he believes is absent in poorer households. He suggested that the timing of a child should be a calculated financial move rather than a spontaneous event.
“Simple decision as getting kids...Unajua maskini tu ndio hajuangi decision making mzuri,” Mordechai said. He explained that while others might suggest having many children, he views it as a matter of timing. “Maskini tu ndio anamkaanga anapata mtoto bila hesabu,” he added.
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
The trader’s comments took a sharper turn when discussing the long-term impact of unplanned pregnancies on the nation. He argued that the inability to plan for a family mirrors an inability to plan for financial success.
“Maskini hawezi decide when to have kids so they can never decide when to be rich and how to be rich so they will die in that poverty with a lot of kids increasing poverty in the country,” Mordechai stated.
He expressed concern that this lack of planning contributes to a cycle that keeps people trapped in low economic standing. He claimed this is why many people in these circumstances are quick to judge those who have found success in unconventional fields like forex trading.
A Campaign for Change
Despite the harsh tone of his remarks, Mordechai revealed that he intends to take an active role in addressing these issues. He announced plans to launch a campaign specifically aimed at reducing unplanned pregnancies.
“This is something I’m going to campaign against unplanned pregnancy,” he said. Mordechai mentioned that he has already started a foundation to reach out to vulnerable groups. He specifically highlighted young people finishing their education.
He noted that many young women face these challenges early in life. “Nenda huko kwenye watu wanazaa huko kivichakani juu hawajui vitu zingine mtu anatoka form Four na mimba,” he remarked, referring to students leaving high school.
Wealth and Criticism
Mordechai also addressed the common criticism directed at forex traders in the region. He noted that critics often label them as “scammers,” yet he believes the real issue lies in the disparity of life choices.
He pointed out that within his social circle, planning is a priority. “Angalia watu wote no one has unplanned kids,” he asserted.
