Police officers in full riot gear were deployed outside Ol Kalou Comprehensive Primary School in Ol Kalou constituency on Thursday as security was reinforced following unrest during the ongoing parliamentary by-election.

The officers, some carrying anti-riot equipment, were seen taking positions around a police lorry parked outside the school, while others climbed aboard as they monitored the situation.

Curious residents gathered at a safe distance, watching the developments as security personnel maintained a visible presence.

The deployment came after earlier disturbances outside the polling centre, where teargas was discharged, briefly causing panic among residents and disrupting normal activities in parts of Ol Kalou CBD.

Despite the heightened security, voting continued at polling stations across the constituency under the supervision of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), with security agencies maintaining vigilance to ensure the exercise proceeded peacefully.
