Environment CS Deborah Barasa says the government has intensified action against pollution through inspections, environmental audits and prosecutions. She told the Senate that 101 facilities were inspected in Nairobi, two industries closed and five people prosecuted over illegal industrial waste discharge. However, senators insisted enforcement remains inadequate despite existing environmental laws.
