Kenyan musician and businesswoman Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has shared a candid reflection on her short-lived marriage to Swiss national Dennis Schweizer.
Known to her fans as "Mr. Omosh," Schweizer was at the centre of a lavish wedding in Nairobi in April 2023. However, the union ended shortly after the celebrations.
In a recent Facebook post, Akothee revealed the reasons behind her previous defensiveness regarding the relationship. She admitted to being blinded by what she now describes as "love bombing" during the early stages of their courtship.
A Lavish Beginning
The singer detailed an initial period defined by extreme generosity and financial support from Schweizer. According to Akothee, he took full responsibility for their expenses when they began dating.
"Omosh boxer paid bills, he wouldn’t allow me pay anything in the beginning of our dating!"

Akothee stated: "he left me a card with money I could withdraw. He booked my flight tickets, he paid for holidays and took me to France for valentines on business class. I didn't pay a penny,” she added.
Defending the Dream
The musician addressed why she often reacted aggressively toward those who questioned or criticised her relationship at the time. She explained that she was convinced she had found a genuine, loving partner.
"Nilidhami nishafikaaa na young sexy and loving kumbe mwendaaasimu love bombing."
This translates to her belief that she had finally "arrived" with a young and loving man, only to later view the affection as a calculated tactic. She noted that this belief led her to defend him fiercely against public scrutiny.
"Ndio maana nilikuwa nawatukana mkimitusi," she wrote, explaining that her insults toward critics were born from this perceived reality.
The Wedding and the Aftermath
The scale of the wedding was a major talking point in Kenya. Akothee confirmed that Schweizer contributed significantly to the event.
"He paid 3/4 of the wedding as well and flew me to Greece for honeymoon," she revealed.

"But after the wedding Weee wee weee wee. The mask fell."
A Sudden Shift
Following the honeymoon, Akothee claimed the financial and emotional dynamics of the relationship altered. She suggested that the expectation for financial responsibility shifted toward her.
"Sasa ilikuwa tuanze kutumia yangu na NI kama alishindwa kujiexpress Ile ya Sasa ni turn yako kulipa dada," she shared. This implies a transition where her own resources were expected to be used, which she described with a series of laughing emojis.
This reflection follows Akothee's previous announcements regarding their separation.
She had earlier cited undisclosed mental health struggles and the difficulties of managing Schweizer’s bipolar outbursts as contributing factors to the breakdown of the marriage.
The singer concluded her post by identifying herself as a single mother once again.
