Lillian Ng’ang’a has shared her latest aspirations for her son, Utheri. The former Machakos First Lady recently revealed a strong desire for her young son to master a musical instrument. This decision comes as she reflects on her own childhood and her deep admiration for musicians.
A Musical Mission
Taking to her Instagram stories, Ng’ang’a expressed her high regard for those with musical talents. She noted that she finds people who can play instruments to be particularly impressive. She even joked about their skills compared to others.
"I find people who play instruments so cool; they are better than us 😃."
The mother of one shared a personal regret regarding her own upbringing. She explained that she never had the chance to learn an instrument when she was a child.
"I wish I had learned one when I was young," she told her followers.
Because she missed that opportunity, she is now looking to the future through her son. Ng’ang’a is determined to provide Utheri with the experiences she did not have.
She explicitly stated her intention for him to pick up an instrument. She wrote: "This one I'll have to live out through Utheri 😅."
The ‘Universal Prayer’
This musical goal is the latest update in her ongoing documentation of Utheri’s growth. Since his birth in July 2022, she has frequently shared milestones with her online community. She often describes him as a little, magical boy.
The bond between mother and son was recently highlighted by a touching moment during a bedtime routine. Ng’ang’a was moved by a prayer Utheri said before sleep. The young boy included an unusual group of people in his nightly blessings.
Utheri prayed: "Thank you, Lord, for a good day, Bless Mommie, Daddie and me… and all passengers. Amen". When his mother asked who he meant by "passengers," the boy gave an expansive and kind-hearted answer.
"Me: Which passengers? Utheri: On the whole planet."
This simple act of kindness left Ng’ang’a deeply touched. She shared the exchange with her followers, adding: "Y'all been prayed for - passengers and people."
A Journey of Light
Utheri is the son of Ng’ang’a and her husband, the musician Juliani. His name holds special significance, meaning "light" in Kikuyu. The family recently celebrated his third birthday with a holiday to the coast.
For Ng’ang’a, motherhood has been a transformative experience. It has shifted her focus toward nurturing her family and celebrating life’s small moments. Her social media updates serve as a digital scrapbook of their life together.
