Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has publicly addressed the sudden resignation of his key media manager, Harriet Njenga. The legislator admitted that an "inappropriate" line of questioning during a recent radio interview caused significant "discomfort" for his staff member.
The controversy began during a live broadcast on Milele FM. Host Tony Mwirigi questioned the MP about an alleged romantic relationship with Njenga.
Shortly after the interview, Njenga announced she was leaving Salasya TV, the digital platform she managed for the MP.
A Public Apology and a Pay Rise Offer
Taking to Facebook, Salasya expressed his surprise at her decision to quit. He used the platform to issue a formal apology for the remarks made during the radio engagement.
“The question regarding our alleged personal relationship was inappropriate and should not have been raised, especially when there were more important matters for public discussion.”
He praised her dedication, creativity, and professionalism in building the Salasya brand across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
“In light of this, I would like to invite you to report to the office on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. My Personal Assistant, Elvis, has prepared a revised employment contract reflecting a salary increment together with improved allowances in recognition of your contribution and dedication.”
“Your role in building and growing Salasya TV and Salasya as a brand has been invaluable. Through your dedication, creativity, and professionalism, you have significantly strengthened my presence across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and other digital media platforms,” he added.
Harriet Njenga’s Social Media Farewell
Despite the MP's offer, Harriet Njenga confirmed her departure on social media. She shared a reflective post with her followers on 11 July 2026.
Her caption read in full: “Every picture tells a story. Every journey has an ending. Today, I close this chapter with gratitude. Thank you for the memories. @peter_salasya.”
Njenga also shared a screenshot of the final message she sent to the MP to notify him of her exit.
