Esma Platnumz has provided a rare glimpse into the private life of her brother, the Bongo Flava superstar Diamond Platnumz.
Speaking in a lengthy interview on Wasafi FM’s Mashamsham programme on 9 July 2026, she clarified several details about their family. The interview comes ahead of the much-anticipated "Mama Dangote Night" event.
During the broadcast, the conversation turned to the number of children within their immediate circle. Esma sought to settle long-standing public curiosity regarding her brother’s family size. She confirmed that Diamond, whose real name is Nasibu Abdul Juma, is a father of just three.
"Nasibu ana watoto watatu,” she said.
Esma also addressed misconceptions about how many children her mother, popularly known as Mama Dangote, has. Despite the large number of relatives often seen with the family, she explained that only two children were born to her mother.
"Kwenye tumbo la mama yetu mama tumezaliwa wangapi Ah wawili," she stated. She noted that she and Diamond are the only two siblings from that union. She added that the family remains very close and full of love, which often makes their household seem much larger to the public.
Esma shared that she has two children of her own. However, she spoke emotionally about the loss of her son, Othman, who passed away in 2010. He had been diagnosed with sickle cell disease.
The Road to Mama Dangote Night
The interview served as a build-up to the "Mama Dangote Night" celebrations scheduled for 11 July 2026. The event is a grand gesture to celebrate their mother’s birthday. Esma revealed that Mama Dangote is turning 59 years old.
The family spent the morning of the interview engaging in community outreach. They visited Tandale, Manzese, and local hospitals to support women and children. Esma explained that her mother wanted to give back to the community where they grew up.
