Kenyan content creator Sheryl Gabriella has claimed she was left devastated after allegedly being denied a promised KSh12 million grand prize following her participation in the Battle of Nations competition in Burkina Faso.
In emotional videos circulating online, Sheryl broke down in tears as she recounted her experience. She alleged that she had repeatedly asked organisers about the prize money but had received no response despite earlier assurances that she would be rewarded if she won through public voting.

According to Sheryl, she was encouraged to mobilise supporters to vote for her, with the competition promoting a KSh12 million prize for the winner. Many of her followers are said to have spent money purchasing votes in support of her campaign.
“Just let it go”
During the emotional exchange, a man identified as Don tried to comfort the influencer.
“Just let it go because it’s going to drain you. Come back to Kenya because you’re our very own.”
Don also allegedly warned Sheryl that the people she had been dealing with were “watu wa wash wash” – used to describe fraudsters or con artists.
He further claimed that she had been used for the organisers’ own benefit.
“They only used you for their own benefit. Even though many Kenyans supported you and spent their money voting, they are not going to give you your money.”
He urged her to stop crying, reassuring her that Kenyans would continue supporting her despite the disappointing outcome.
Questions over the competition
Sheryl further alleged that the competition was not conducted fairly and claimed she had been deceived after travelling to Burkina Faso.
At the time of writing, there has been no public response from the organisers of the alleged competition addressing her claims. The allegations therefore remain unverified.
