The Ministry of Health will today convene a national stakeholder forum in Nairobi to review regulations aimed at eliminating industrially produced trans fats from Kenya's food supply. The meeting will examine proposed changes to the law to align the country's laws with current scientific evidence and global best practices. The ministry says stronger, enforceable regulations are needed to reduce exposure to harmful trans fats, lower the burden of diet-related non-communicable diseases, and improve public health. Stakeholders are expected to provide technical input to help shape the revised regulatory framework.
