Khalif Kairo recently appeared on the Boxpod podcast for an in-depth interview. He spoke with media personality Kwambox about his life and career. The businessman revealed that his success began with a strong academic foundation.
Kairo was a highly gifted student from a young age. He grew up in the Kangemi area of Nairobi. Despite the humble setting, he excelled in the classroom.
A Gifted Young Reader
During the interview, Kairo shared his primary school record. He was consistently at the top of his class. When asked whether he was a smart kid in school, Kairo responded:
"I will say that because I always made the top three. Whole of primary school," Kairo stated.
"I was a guy who enjoyed reading a lot," Kairo explained. By Class 6, he was reading complex materials at home.
"I read broadly like by class six I will take encyclopedias home and just read from encyclopedia A - Aeroplan, aeronautics, automotive… all that. I found a lot of joy in reading.”
From Kangemi to Luxury Sales
Kairo’s father worked as a chauffeur. This influenced Kairo’s natural talent for machinery. He started riding motorbikes at age 12.
He initially wanted to be a lawyer or a pilot. His mother encouraged law because he liked to argue. However, Kairo felt that flying was more adventurous.
Facing the Storm
Kairo’s rise has not been without trouble. In recent years, he has faced legal challenges and a public arrest. These issues stemmed from commercial disputes with suppliers and clients.
He spent time in prison and suffered a serious blood infection afterward. Kairo describes these events as a season where everything has to go south to build his faith.
"I think before God takes you to the next level, he has to give you a season where everything has to go south. He has to break you," Kairo reflected.
Today, Kairo is moving beyond local car sales. He is focusing on his aviation company, Jetman Global. He also handles high-end vehicle imports through his family business, Kai and Cairo.
