Controversial content creator Andrew Kibe has announced a significant shift in his approach to engaging with digital media platforms. The creator, known for his abrasive style, declared that he will no longer provide free interviews for podcast hosts.
The announcement follows a heated public fallout involving comedian Dr Ofweneke and rapper Stevo Simple Boy. Kibe’s appearance on Ofweneke’s digital show, Lessons at 30, was recently deleted after sparking massive online outrage.
New Terms for Media Appearances
Kibe took to his X account to set out his new conditions for future collaborations. He made it clear that his presence now comes with a price tag and a demand for zero censorship.
"From now on, if you invite me to your podcast, 1. Pay 2. Don't bleep my s**t. Anything else is of the evil one."
This move marks a significant change in Kibe's strategy as he looks to monetise his guest appearances.
The policy change comes in the wake of an interview that Kibe claims was designed to be provocative. On 27 June, he revealed that his goal during the now-deleted Ofweneke interview was to cause maximum friction.
"I tried as much as possible to offend as many people/groups as possible in that Ofweneke’s podcast that he pulled down. Give them nothing but take away everything!"
Kibe also expressed contempt for the host’s decision to remove the footage. He suggested that Dr Ofweneke succumbed to public sentiment.
"Imebidi Ofweneke adelete ile podcast yetu juu ya ‘pressure’. Mshenzi sana!"
The Backlash over Stevo Simple Boy
The controversy began when Kibe used the platform to mock the physical appearance of rapper Stevo Simple Boy. During the broadcast, Kibe went as far as suggesting that the musician should not be allowed to father children.
Public anger was further directed at Dr Ofweneke, who appeared to laugh during Kibe’s disparaging remarks. This led to accusations that the host was complicit in the bullying of the Kibera-bred artist.
Dr Ofweneke's Move to Reconcile
In a sharp contrast to Kibe’s defiant stance, Dr Ofweneke has taken steps to repair his reputation. The host visited Stevo Simple Boy in person over the weekend to offer a face-to-face apology. He described the moment as a test of character and an act of humility.
"The laughter was a reflex action. I actually do regret that as a brother that should not have happened."
The host has since permanently pulled down the offending episode. He also told the rapper that personal value is not tied to physical looks.
"Life is not a beauty contest. Nobody cares about how you look. We all care about the work that you bring in people's lives."
While Ofweneke has pledged his continued support for Stevo, Kibe remains steadfast in his approach, moving forward with a new "pay-to-play" model for his appearances.
