Content creator Lydia Wanjiru has officially resurfaced online after 10 days of silence. Her sudden disappearance from social media platforms began on 20 June following a distressing incident at a local event.

Wanjiru has now shared the details regarding the loss of her iPhone 17 and the technical hurdles that kept her offline.

A Night of Music and Loss

The incident occurred while Wanjiru was out with friends. She described the atmosphere of the event, explaining how the music and dancing provided a distraction. It was during this time that she realised her phone was gone.

"After 9 years, I have finally been welcomed in Nairobi. I haven’t been online since June 20 after losing my phone at the Amapiano event,” she updated.

Reporting the Incident

Upon discovering the theft, Wanjiru and her companions sought assistance from the authorities. They were directed to a local station to file an official report.

"So, we were advised to go to police station," Wanjiru said. "We went to Karen Police Station to just report." She returned to the station the following day to follow up on the case.

The Technical Struggle

While the physical loss of the iPhone 17 was immediate, the digital recovery proved to be a lengthy ordeal. Wanjiru managed to purchase a new device quite quickly, but she was unable to access her data.

"On Tuesday, I got a new phone," she stated. However, she hit a significant roadblock regarding her security credentials. "The worst part of it is I forgot my iCloud password."

The issue extended beyond just her phone access. "I forgot my email password. I forgot all my social media passwords," she added.

Security Delays and Recovery

Wanjiru was forced to wait through a mandatory security period before she could regain control of her accounts. This process lasted nearly a week.

"Until yesterday, on Monday, is when I reset my iCloud. It was like a six-day security delay," she explained. Once the security delay concluded, she was able to reset all her passwords and restore her online presence.

Wanjiru concluded her update by expressing her frustration with the venue where the theft occurred. "I've gone to events and after years of anyway I'm back," she said. "I reset my password, everything, and now I am back."
