Tanzanian music mogul Diamond Platnumz recently shared a candid moment with his employee, Wasafi FM presenter Lil Ommy. The two sat down for a wide-ranging interview that eventually turned to the singer's personal life.
The atmosphere shifted when Lil Ommy asked the star if he was expecting another child soon or if he had a wish for another baby. Diamond reacted with a laugh, but gave a blunt response to the presenter.
"Wee fala sana," Diamond told him.
The phrase, which translates to "you are very foolish," was delivered in a joking manner. However, it highlighted the tension surrounding Diamond’s private life.
Rumours have circulated for weeks that fellow artist Zuchu is pregnant with the singer's baby. Diamond did not confirm these rumours, but he did not dismiss the idea of more children.
A Goal of Ten
Diamond spoke about his vision for his family. He has previously shared his dream of having a very large household. He reaffirmed this goal during the discussion.
"Nishasema kwamba ndoto yangu ni watoto 10," Diamond stated.
The singer currently has four children that are known to the public. To reach his target of ten, he would need six more. Diamond admitted that he feels he is falling behind his own schedule.
"Hapa niko nje ya muda shekh," he added.
Modern Parenting
Before discussing new arrivals, Diamond shared his philosophy on raising his current children. He spoke about his son Nillan who wants to become a professional gamer.
Initially, Diamond was unhappy with this choice. He even deleted the boy’s YouTube account in an attempt to stop him. After some reflection, the singer realised he needed to change his approach.
"Dunia inabadilika," Diamond explained.
He noted that parents should not be like those from the past who forced children into traditional careers. He specifically mentioned that he would not force a child to become a doctor.
"Mimi mwanangu nitahakikisha kwamba anafanya kitu ambacho anakipenda," he said.
Diamond is even researching how gamers make money. He mentioned looking into other successful gamers to understand the industry better.
The singer believes the timing of his next child is out of his hands. He explained that he leaves these matters to a higher power.
He told the presenter that if God is happy, a child will come. In the meantime, Diamond joked about how he is keeping his energy levels up. He mentioned eating lots of peanuts, associated with vitality in East African culture.
"Napambana kaka nakula sana karanga," Diamond laughed.
