Veteran Kenyan singer Nyota Ndogo is well-known for her soulful music and her success in the coastal region. Recently, she has also become a prominent figure in the hospitality sector with her venture, Nyota Ndogo Jikoni. However, being a public figure often comes with unwanted social media scrutiny.

The singer recently decided to break her silence regarding negative comments aimed at her business. While many celebrities choose to ignore online trolls, Nyota Ndogo believes some claims are too damaging to be left unanswered. She took to Facebook to set the record straight after a user attacked the integrity of her restaurant.

The Source of the Dispute

The conflict began when a Facebook user, Huns Boy Richy, posted a scathing comment on her page. The user criticised the singer for her choice of investment. He suggested that her business was promoting immoral behaviour.

"Instead of building a church so people can worship and preach and know the word of God, you are building a hotel to promote immorality and the use of alcohol to mislead people, right?"

Protecting the Brand

Nyota Ndogo, whose real name is Mwanaisha Abdalla Mohamed, felt that this specific accusation could mislead her customers. She explained that silence could be misinterpreted as an admission of truth.

"Someone might say 'Nyota, ignore some comments,' but this is not one to ignore. Some people might read that comment and start believing that what is being said is true. Therefore, I will respond with respect and clarity."

She emphasised that her business reputation is a priority. For her, defending her work is a matter of professional and personal necessity.

"It is good to clear your name first in your business."

A Lifestyle of Integrity

In her detailed response, the singer clarified her personal values and the nature of her business. She wanted the public to know that her restaurant does not align with the negative claims made by the critic. She stated that her establishment is strictly focused on food and non-alcoholic beverages.

"I do not drink alcohol. I do not use any intoxicants. I do not have any addiction. I pray to Almighty God that He does not allow me to get into those things."

"I would like to inform everyone that Nyota Ndogo Jikoni deals with food and soft drinks only. There is no alcohol or that kind of business."

Character Beyond Appearance

Nyota Ndogo also touched upon the relationship between faith and business. She argued that true religious values are reflected in one’s daily actions and character rather than just outward shows of piety.

"It is important to know that religion is not just a person's appearance alone, but also their character and actions."

The singer concluded her statement by thanking her followers for their continued support. She remains committed to her business values and her role as a respected figure in the Kenyan entertainment and business landscape.
