The Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi was the scene of a high-stakes showdown on Saturday night. Kenyan musician Arrow Bwoy stepped into the boxing ring to face Ugandan businessman Shakib Cham Lutaaya.
The match was the headline event of the 'Vurugu 2' celebrity boxing extravaganza. After weeks of online rivalry, the contest ended when Shakib secured a victory by Technical Knockout (TKO).
Fighting Through the Pain
Following the defeat, Arrow Bwoy took to Instagram to share his reflections on the match. He revealed that his preparation was far from ideal. The singer had only 20 days of training before the big night.
More significantly, he disclosed that he chose to compete despite dealing with undisclosed health complications.
“Stepping into a boxing ring for the very first time after only 20 days of training, With Some Health complications was a challenge I accepted with courage and determination. I learned that boxing is not just about throwing punches; it’s about discipline, heart, and mental strength,” he said.
‘I Will Not Leave You Alone’
The most touching moment of the aftermath came from the singer’s young son, Haseeb Kai. Arrow Bwoy revealed the words of a song his son shared with him following the defeat.
The message provided a powerful reminder of family devotion during a difficult professional moment.

The event was organised by media personality Oga Obinna. It attracted fans from across East Africa, turning the bout into a matter of national pride between Kenya and Uganda. Shakib, who had just broken up with socialite Zari Hassan, arrived in Nairobi days before the fight expressing full confidence.
He lived up to his promises by delivering a dominant performance that ultimately led to a TKO.
Despite the heated build-up to the fight, Arrow Bwoy showed great sportsmanship. He congratulated Shakib on his win and thanked the team that put the event together.
He also acknowledged the difficulty of the sport, remarking that "Boxing si Rahisi" (Boxing is not easy).
While the Kenyan star faces a recovery period, he remains optimistic about his future in the ring. He told his followers that this was only the beginning and promised to return stronger.
