Gospel singer and social media personality Triza Njeri, popularly known as Mamake Muraya, has declared a major shift in her approach to marriage and domestic life.
Speaking to her followers during a TikTok live session on Friday, 19 June 2026, the musician made it clear that traditional kitchen roles are no longer part of her future plans.
The former wife of well-known Akorino philanthropist and influencer Karangu Muraya shared these views while discussing her expectations for any future partner.
Ambition Over Domesticity
Njeri explained that she is now focused on financial growth and partnership. She told her fans that she wants a husband who is ready to build a business empire with her rather than one who expects her to manage the household alone.
“Now, if someone marries me, let them marry me, and we do business and look for money together, not pushing me to cook for him, there are chefs for that job,” she said.
The Exhaustion of the Workday
The singer admitted that while she is a "good cook," the physical toll of a busy career makes domestic chores difficult to sustain. She described the reality of returning home after a long day feeling completely drained.
“I can’t cook. Imagine coming from exhausting daily activities to enter the kitchen to cook chapati, I can’t,” she insisted.
Njeri noted that her current lifestyle involves prioritising rest and recovery. She explained that she no longer feels the need to meet traditional expectations that lead to physical exhaustion.
“I cannot look for the money and also stay there to cook. I cannot imagine that I would even go home to cook for someone,” she stated.
Outsourcing the Kitchen
To solve the conflict between work and home life, Njeri pointed to the rise of the service economy. She argued that hiring professional chefs is a practical solution for busy couples.
According to the gospel singer, this move does more than just save time; it also supports the local economy. She suggested that professional cooks should be given the opportunity to earn a living through their skills.
“Right now we have home chefs who you can call to cook. Let chefs who can be hired get that money,” she added.
Financial Independence
The TikTok session, which at one point reached "1.3 meta" in metrics, highlighted Njeri’s newfound perspective on self-reliance. She noted that her views on relationships have been shaped by her ability to fend for herself and generate her own income.
She further mentioned that she does not have a large appetite, which makes spending hours in the kitchen feel even less necessary.
