Kenyan boxer Portifas Odipo, popularly known as Majembe, showed his discipline during a light-hearted quickfire session with K24 TV. When faced with a fun choice between doing 20 push-ups back-to-back or performing a TikTok dance, he chose the former without hesitation.
The rising star completed the set smoothly, counting aloud from one to 20.
A Disciplined Choice
In the clip, the interviewer asked: “Do 20 push-ups back-to-back or do a TikTok dance?” Majembe replied instantly, “Let me do push-ups,” before dropping down to complete the challenge.
Majembe also revealed that he doesn’t know how to tell lies and that he has never lied in his entire life. This was his answer to a question about one thing that people always get wrong about him.
Words of Wisdom for Young Boxers
During the same quickfire round, Majembe shared a simple but powerful message when asked for one piece of advice to upcoming boxers.
“Maintain consistency and self-confidence. Do not allow yourself to be used, not even a little bit; believe in yourself completely, and if you are mistreated, speak up. If you don't speak up, you will regret it later," he emphasized.
As a young fighter who rose from grassroots levels, he stressed the importance of steady training and commitment over shortcuts.
His sentiments of not allowing oneself to be used appeared to be a jibe directed at boxing promoter Oga Obinna, following their recent social media spat.
It all began when Majembe revealed that he had pulled out of the Vurugu 2.0 boxing match against Somali Boxer, scheduled for June 20, at Sarit Centre.
"So, regarding that story about the misunderstanding over the contract, Obinna has blocked me. It’s like he took it personally and saw me as the bad guy for telling him that things aren't going well here,” he revealed in an interview with 2Mbili’s presenter.
From Social Media to the Ring
Majembe, originally from Kisumu, first gained attention through viral videos. He rose to prominence after winning the Vurugu Boxing Challenge against Mbavu Destroyer in April 2026 at Kasarani Indoor Arena. The victory brought him significant prizes and wider recognition.
