Kenyan content creator Diana Bahati, widely known as Diana Marua, has released a candid vlog addressing the growing "heat" of social media pressure.
Speaking to her millions of subscribers, she urged young women to stop comparing their lives to the curated, "glamorised" images they see on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
While her current life appears luxurious, her latest video serves as a "testimony" of the struggles behind the scenes.
The Illusion of a Flawless Life
In her vlog, Diana explained how social media often makes it look like people "woke up" with flawless faces and expensive cars. She noted that everything from holidays in Bali to driving Range Rovers is presented as effortless.
"I want to talk about social media pressure because I feel like everything has been glamorized to feel like I woke up with a flawless face I woke up driving a rover I woke up in Bali, I woke up and you know life is giving flash that money energy... it is not as easy as social media makes it look like,” she said.
This creates a "microwave generation" where young people want instant success without the work.
She warned that constant scrolling can turn healthy admiration into envy. "The world is moving so quickly," she said, noting that people often try to match a lifestyle that is not grounded in reality.
"Only 1% of the people on social media will come out and tell you what true life is behind the cameras."
A Warning Against 'Fast Money'
The influencer spoke openly about the dangers of chasing a fast-paced life through relationships with "mubabas" or wealthy married men.
Diana admitted that she was once a "side chick" herself several years ago. She described this lifestyle as a cycle that leads to regret.
She highlighted that while these men might pay for rent, holidays, or designer handbags, the lifestyle is often temporary. She noted that such men rarely leave their wives, and the financial support is not a stable "payroll".
Building from the Ground Up
Contrasting the "fast life" with her own marriage, Diana shared the difficulties she faced when she first started dating her husband. She revealed that the first two years were some of the most challenging of her life.
In one emotional moment, she recalled being pregnant with her first child and having to borrow 1,000 Kenyan shillings just to buy stretch mark cream.
She stayed in the relationship because of her belief in her partner's dreams and their shared hard work. The couple eventually moved from a small apartment to their current home through persistence.
The Value of 'Project You'
Diana encouraged her audience to find their own passions, whether in makeup, fashion, or vlogging, and to "put in the work".She stressed that success is not an overnight achievement and requires patience.
