Riders during a past event/ HANDOUTThe Sports Disputes Tribunal has suspended the national motocross team selection process pending the hearing of a governance dispute involving the Motorcycle Sports Federation of Kenya.
In directions issued on May 22, Deputy Chairperson Allan Mola Owinyi certified the matter as urgent following an application filed by Nairobi rider Fredrick Yongo Ogola.

The tribunal issued conservatory orders halting the MXoAN national team selection process for the planned MX Round 1 and MX Round 2 events, saying the move was necessary to preserve the status quo and ensure a “fair, transparent and lawful” selection process.
The case, filed under SDTSC/E034/2026, challenges the federation’s compliance with the Sports Act and questions the legality of its governance structure.
Ogola, a former licensed rider and parent of two riders competing in national events, accuses the federation of failing to comply with conditions attached to its conditional registration in 2021, including aligning its constitution with Kenyan law, conducting elections and implementing strategic plans.
The claim also questions the federation’s legal structure as a company limited by guarantee, arguing it raises concerns over whether it qualifies to operate as a national sports organisation under the Sports Act.
The Sports Registrar and the Attorney General have been listed as interested parties in the dispute.
Respondents and interested parties have until May 27 to file their responses before the matter is mentioned virtually before a tribunal panel comprising Allan Mola, Eddie Omondi and Luke Wamugunda.
