Detectives in Igembe Central, Meru county, are investigating the murder of a minor whose body was discovered at Limoro village in Njiha Location on Friday afternoon.
Police visited the scene and found the body of a minor, lying dead inside the compound of a local resident.
Police said the girl aged six had a piece of cloth tied around her neck, which investigators believe may have been used to strangle her.
At the time of the incident, the compound owners were reportedly away doing casual jobs within the village.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased’s brother, is the main suspect in the killing.
According to investigators, villagers claimed the suspect had allegedly expressed intentions to have his sister killed because she was living with a disability.
The scene was processed by detectives before the body was moved to Nyambene Subcounty Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem examination.
Police said efforts to trace and arrest the suspect are ongoing.
In a different incident, police in Baringo county are investigating the brutal murder of a 60-year-old herder whose body was discovered in Ole Arabel Forest after suspected stock thieves stole dozens of sheep.
A witness told police that her husband, Justus Wainaina Njenga, had gone missing after leaving home on Thursday to graze about 80 sheep at Meya Sitotue area in Ole Arabel Forest within Baringo county.
Family members became concerned after his mobile phone went unanswered, prompting a search party to comb the grazing fields on Friday.
The search team later discovered his body in the forest bearing multiple deep cuts to the head and face, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.
Police said the victim’s hands had been tied behind his back using his jacket, while his legs were also tied together.
A yellow rope was reportedly found around his neck, indicating he may have been tortured before being killed.
Investigators believe unknown assailants attacked the herder on Thursday before making away with the flock of sheep.
A separate team of National Police Reservists from Mochongoi tracked the stolen animals towards Kisanana area in Mogotio Subcounty and managed to recover about 70 sheep.
And police in Thika East Sub-County are investigating a suspected murder after a 60-year-old man was found dead inside his house in Gatuanyaga area, Kiambu County.
The incident was reported on Thursday at about 2:20 pm at Gatuanyaga Police Post after neighbours became concerned when they failed to see Titus Njoroge for an entire day.
According to police, the neighbours went to check on him and found the house locked from the inside. Calls to his mobile phone went unanswered as it was switched off.
Officers from Gatuanyaga Police Post rushed to the home and forced their way in after discovering the door had been barricaded from inside using a piece of timber placed vertically behind it.
Inside the house, officers found the lifeless body of the deceased seated on a sofa set with intestines protruding and blood smeared around the neck.
Preliminary investigations indicate the victim may have been killed elsewhere using a sharp object before the body was moved to the house.
The suspected murder weapon was not recovered at the scene.
Police said the deceased was last seen alive on Wednesday, March 20, while drying beans outside his home.
Crime scene investigators from Thika West processed the scene before the body was moved to General Kago Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
Investigations are ongoing.And a 48-year-old man was found dead with head injuries in Mwireri village in Nyandarua County, police said.
A local told officers he had discovered the body of his neighbour, Joseph Kabaiko Kinuthia, lying near a fence under a bench.
Police officers who visited the scene established that the deceased was lying on his back with visible head injuries and blood oozing from the mouth.
Crime scene personnel processed the area before the body was moved to the J.M. Kariuki Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
Police have launched investigations into the murder.
