The Interior Principal Secretary, Raymond Omollo, has urged unity and cautioned against divisive politics ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He made the remarks during the funeral of former Nyando ODM Chairman Jared Okelo at Arita village in Nyando Sub-county, Kisumu County.
Omollo warned leaders against engaging in politics of division and hatred, saying such actions only derail development in the region.
“Let’s not allow some leaders from this region to come and confuse us, divide us, some even want to take us to the streets. Let’s continue to build our region,” said Omollo.
He said the administration of President William Ruto has demonstrated commitment to equitable development across the country, noting that the Nyanza region has received projects worth more than Sh220 billion.
According to Omollo, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori counties have collectively benefited from projects valued at over Sh220 billion under President William Ruto’s government.
“For the first time we are seeing such a huge amount of investment, and it speaks to the leadership of President William Ruto, and it is very deliberate,” he said.
The PS noted that several road projects that had stalled for years are now progressing after contractors returned to sites, with construction ongoing in different parts of the region.
Omollo praised the ongoing development projects in Luo Nyanza, saying they reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and transformation.
The PS also assured ODM party leader Oburu Oginga of his support, saying he has the biggest assignment to lead the party and take the community forward.
“Together with the rest of the leaders from this region, we will give you unwavering support as you continue to lead this community and the ODM party,” he said.
He also expressed confidence that President Ruto will win a second term in the 2027 elections, citing ongoing development projects being implemented across the country without discrimination.
