Kisumu Central ODM leaders have begun a series of mobilisation meetings ahead of the party’s major rally set for May 31 at Kirembe Grounds in Kisumu.
Speaking during a meeting on Thursday afternoon, Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron said the gatherings are aimed at uniting the party, strengthening community cohesion and preparing supporters for what he described as the “mother of all rallies".
“We are here today as the ODM fraternity, ODM party officials and ODM party members from the Kisumu Central constituency,” Oron said.
He added. “We are here with all the elected MCAs, nominated MCAs and aspirants seeking positions in 2027. We are here for one reason to unite as a party, unite as a community and plan for the mother of all rallies coming up on May 31 in Kirembe for the biggest and greatest party in East and Central Africa called ODM”.
Oron said the mobilisation activities began two weeks ago and have already included meetings in Nyakach and other parts of the Nyanza region.

He said similar activation meetings will continue across Kisumu County, including Kisumu East, Kisumu West, Seme and Muhoroni, in the days leading up to the rally. He further announced plans to engage boda boda riders and youth groups in separate meetings focused on peace, party mobilisation and community unity.
“Tomorrow at 8am we will meet boda boda riders from Kisumu Central and the county at large so that we discuss ODM. On Saturday morning we will also meet youth across the county,” Oron said.
He described the May 31 event as a national rally expected to attract ODM supporters and leaders from across the country.
“We expect people from all walks of life and from different counties to attend. We will have ODM leadership from across Luo Nyanza, our party chairperson, deputy party leaders and the ODM secretariat from Nairobi,” he said.
Addressing concerns over possible security fears during the rally, Oron insisted Kisumu remains peaceful and safe for visitors.
“Kisumu is a very peaceful county. One of the reasons we are meeting boda boda riders and youths is to preach peace and plan properly. Those attending should know they will come in peace and leave in peace,” he said.
