During the celebration, Sonko presented Gift with several gifts, including a Bible, perfumes, a wristwatch, and a handwritten card. He also handed him KSh 200,000 in cash, jokingly telling him to “kula na dem yako”, a remark that amused guests at the party.
“This is what changing lives truly means. The enemy was defeated, and God gave us victory, peace, and another chance to smile again,” Sonko wrote online after the event.
Gift also thanked Sonko for supporting and raising him over the years, describing him as a father figure who stood by the family during difficult moments.
Journey from Tragedy to Celebration
The birthday celebration revived memories of the tragic 2014 Al-Shabaab terror attack in Mombasa that changed the lives of Gift and his younger brother, Satrine Osinya.
The attack, which occurred at the Joy Jesus Repentance and Holiness Ministry church in Likoni, claimed the life of the boy’s mother. Satrine survived despite sustaining serious injuries after a bullet remained lodged in his brain.
Following the attack, Sonko stepped in to support the two brothers. He took responsibility for their medical treatment, education, and upbringing, frequently sharing updates about their progress over the years.
Reflecting on their journey, Sonko expressed gratitude for how far the family had come despite the painful experience.
“The devil tried to destroy their lives during the deadly Al-Shabaab attack, but God remained faithful,” he said.

The celebration also renewed attention on Sonko’s recent involvement in the life of four-year-old Baby Talisha following the death of her mother, Anita Mugweru.
Sonko had attended Anita’s burial in Nanyuki, where he publicly promised to support Baby Talisha’s upbringing and education.
Days later, he shared photos and videos showing the child visiting his Nairobi office alongside relatives and her nanny. In the clips, Sonko and the young girl were seen playing together, sharing snacks, and enjoying emotional father-daughter moments.
“Baby Talisha is only four years old. At such a tender age, no child should ever witness the horror of seeing her own mother killed before her eyes,” Sonko wrote.
