Kenyan content creator Mwirigi has sparked laughter online after sharing a witty take on the growing theft of Toyota Harrier grilles in Nairobi.
In a viral video, Mwirigi jokingly claimed that no grille is ever truly lost despite the increasing number of theft reports involving the popular SUV model.
According to him, the stolen grilles are simply circulating among Harrier owners.
“Technically, hakuna grill imepotea. Ni vile tu kila mtu ako na yenye si yake,” he joked.

The comedian then proposed what many social media users described as a hilarious but oddly logical solution.
Mwirigi suggested that all Harrier owners should organise one large meeting where every person returns the grille currently in their possession to the original owner.
“Nafeel watu wa Harrier wakitengeneza meeting... kila mtu arudishie mwenye aliibia, kila mtu atapata grill yake,” he said.
He further compared the situation to life in Kenyan boarding schools, where students constantly “borrow” plastic cups from one another.
“Ni kama ile situation ya high school yenye ulikuwa unapata kila mtu anaibiwa vikombe, lakini at any given time, kila mtu ako na kikombe.”

Several CCTV clips circulating online show suspects allegedly removing the grilles within seconds before disappearing unnoticed.
One widely shared clip reportedly captured a suspect in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area approaching a parked Toyota Harrier before allegedly pulling off the grille moments before the vehicle’s alarm sounded.
The trend has forced some owners to adopt unusual measures to protect their vehicles.
Recently, Kenyan influencer Kevin Kinuthia drew attention online after revealing that he had removed the grille from his Harrier and taken it indoors for safekeeping.
“Hamtanirudisha soko kununua ingine. Nimeona niing’oe nilale nayo hapa. Ninaona wanakujia hadi kwa parking,” Kinuthia wrote.
