Kenyan entrepreneur and socialite Vera Sidika has opened up about how motherhood has fundamentally reshaped her financial priorities. Speaking in an interview on the Confidential Stories podcast, the mother of two explained that her once-legendary shopping sprees have been scaled back to provide a more secure future for her children.
The Fifty-Thousand Dollar Shift
Known for her high-end lifestyle and love for designer labels, Vera revealed that her spending habits have undergone a drastic reduction. She admitted that before having children, she would spend staggering amounts on luxury goods during single trips abroad.
"I used to be like really big on shopping big designer brands... If I was shopping for $50,000 US, now I probably do like 15,000. I'm like this is okay, manage this,” she said.
This shift is not due to a lack of funds, but rather a conscious choice to prioritise her household. Vera explained that while she still enjoys luxury, she now finds herself "managing" her budget more strictly than in her early years of fame.

Prioritising Asia and Ice
The business mogul has two children: her daughter, Asia Brown, and her son, Ice Brown. She noted that the arrival of her children changed her entire outlook on why she works and how she spends. According to Vera, the costs of raising children at her preferred standard are significant.
Vera listed several "new priorities" that now take precedence over designer handbags. These include international school fees, private nannies, and private drivers. She stressed that her focus has moved toward long-term stability rather than immediate gratification.
Building Generational Wealth
Vera’s decision to limit her personal spending is rooted in a desire to provide her children with a better life than her own. She told host Shiko Shurid that her daily "running around" and business ventures finally make sense now that she is a parent.
"Now you start thinking different... I want the best for my kids. I want my kids to live a beautiful life, creating generational wealth."
A Career of Longevity
Vera Sidika has remained a central figure in Kenyan entertainment for over 13 years. She originally rose to fame as a video vixen before successfully pivoting into a "personality brand" and businesswoman.
Despite the public nature of her past relationships and a recent "messy" breakup with the father of her children, she remains focused on maintaining her brand's relevance and her family's peace.

Vera concluded by advising other women that motherhood requires extensive mental and financial preparation. She stated that while nothing can fully prepare a person for the reality of parenting, being stable before starting a family is essential.
