Safariom FY26 results./SAFARICOM

Safaricom has posted a 67.3 per cent growth in net earnings for 2025, hitting a record high of Sh99.7 billion.

The telco has attributed the growth to innovative products that positively impact the daily lives of consumers.

This is the highest ever profit recorded by any company in East and Central Africa.

The firm's service revenue grew by 10 per cent crossing the Sh400 billion mark, with losses at the Ethiopian unit dropping by half. The momentum strengthened in H2, with service revenue growing by 10.7 per cent YoY compared to 9.3 per cent in the first half.

M‑Pesa remained the key driver of revenue performance, contributing 59.2 per cent of total growth, expanding its revenue mix to 45.6, and growing by 13.4 per cent year on year.

The connectivity business continued to be the largest revenue contributor, growing by 6.9 per cent YOY, led by mobile data growth of 14.4 per cent. Fixed revenue grew by 12.2 per cent, driven by excellent growth in consumer segment revenue.
