Police in Nzaui Subcounty, Makueni County, have recovered human bones from the Nzaui Hill forest under unclear circumstances.

Confirming the incident on Monday, Nzaui Subcounty Police Commander Agnes Kunga said the remains were discovered by a member of the public on Sunday 4:35 p.m. The individual immediately reported the matter to authorities, prompting a police response.

Kunga stated that officers visited the scene and retrieved the bones, which were later transported to Sultan Hamud Subcounty Hospital mortuary for preservation and further examination. The remains are yet to be identified.

Preliminary observations indicate that the bones may have been at the location for an extended period, although the exact duration remains unknown. Police have not established whether the remains belong to a male or female.

The commander noted that there are currently no reports of missing persons filed at Nzaui Police Station that could be directly linked to the discovery.
