Collapsed wall damages 11 vehicles at Kilimani garage
A perimeter wall collapse at a garage in Nairobi’s Kilimani area left at least 11 vehicles and multiple repair items damaged in an overnight incident.
This followed heavy rains that were experienced in the area and Nairobi in general on Thursday night and Friday.
The incident occurred at a garage along Kilungu Road.
A guard heard a loud bang within the premises and upon checking, he discovered that a neighbouring perimeter wall had collapsed into the garage, crushing several vehicles that had been parked for repairs.
Police officers responded to the scene and confirmed the destruction. The damaged vehicles were 11, police who visited there said.
Other property destroyed included sheds, a gas cylinder used for welding, five toolboxes, a painting compressor, assorted spare parts, an engine (Passo 1KR), and vehicle body parts including a bonnet and front bumper for a 2008 Peugeot.
Scene of crime personnel processed the area as investigations into the cause of the wall collapse continue.
Meanwhile, police in Tana River County are investigating an incident of vandalism involving a power transmission structure in Tana Delta Sub-County.
The incident was reported on May 1, 2026, at around 7:30 am during a routine patrol.
A manager attached to the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO), reported that a transmission tower (pyron) had been damaged and metal bars stolen.
Police visited the scene and confirmed that one transmission structure had been vandalized. Investigators noted that the tower had not yet been connected to the power line at the time of the incident.
Photographs of the scene were taken, and several bolts and nuts believed to be linked to the vandalism were recovered and preserved as exhibits.
This had exposed the locals to dangers as the cables hanged dangerously amid calls for repairs to install the stolen pyrons.
Elsewhere in Ndugamano, Nyeri County, a four-year-old girl was burnt to death in a fire incident.
The minor was in the grandmother’s house where she was left by the woman who went to look for a phone number from her neighbour.
On returning she found the house on fire. Fire brigade from Nyeri County visited the scene and managed to extinguish the fire.
The of fire is not yet established and the body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.
