His work earned him the respect of both colleagues and patients, many of whom relied on his expertise and compassionate approach to treatment.

‎“Dr Obwaka served with dedication as a long-standing Admitting Consultant… where his clinical excellence, professionalism, and commitment to patient care earned him the deep respect of colleagues and patients alike,” the chairman noted.

‎Beyond his clinical role, Obwaka also played a key part in the governance of the institution.

‎In 2025, he served as a member of the Board of Management, contributing to strategic decision-making and institutional development during a critical period.

‎“We also recognise his service as a member of the Board of Management in 2025. His commitment and stewardship to The Nairobi Hospital's mission played an important role in shaping our governance and strategic direction,” Onyambu added.

‎The hospital leadership described his passing as a major loss not only to the institution but also to the wider medical fraternity in Kenya.

‎Obwaka passed away Friday evening at 7 pm at the same hospital where he served patients for years, his wife, Everose Obwaka, confirmed.

‎A source at the Hospital indicated that Obwaka was rushed to the facility and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Widely respected in Kenya’s medical fraternity, Obwaka dedicated much of his life to advancing women’s health and mentoring younger practitioners.

‎On behalf of the Board, management, staff, and the entire hospital community, Onyambu extended condolences to Obwaka’s family, friends, and staff at his private clinic.

‎“We stand with you in mourning the loss of an exceptional doctor, colleague, and leader,” he said.

‎“The Nairobi Hospital remains available to support the family in any way possible during this time.”

‎The hospital noted that his impact will continue to be felt for years to come.

‎“Dr Obwaka's legacy and his immense contribution to the medical profession and to this institution will be long remembered,” Onyambu said.
