Wiper Patriotic Front party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is in Homa Bay County on a two-day visit.
Kalonzo began his programme by attending a church service and fundraiser for a campsite at Nyakongo SDA Church in Gem West Ward, Rangwe Constituency.
He is expected to visit market centres along the Rodi Kopany–Rangwe–Asumbi–Suneka road during the tour.
Kalonzo has been a long-time political ally of the late former ODM leader Raila Odinga. He supported Raila in his three attempts to become president.
Rangwe MP aspirant Michael Ogallo said Kalonzo is known in the region due to his past association with Raila.
"Kalonzo has no bad blood with the Luo community. Let him traverse the Luo land," Ogallo said.
The Wiper leader was accompanied by Embakasi South MP David Mawathe and several party MCAs.
Kalonzo attended the church service following an invitation by Pastor George Odhiambo of Missioners of Hope in Utawala, Nairobi.
Homa Bay is one of four counties in Luo Nyanza.
Some elected leaders in the region have previously been elected on ODM tickets.
Ogallo described Kalonzo as a calm and non-controversial political figure.
"Wiper leader should not be worried by local leaders not accompanying him," Ogallo said.
