The Kenya Private Schools Association is pledging stronger support for the government in the ongoing implementation of reforms in the education sector.
Officials of KPSA said they are keen to ensure the overall success in the implementation of the Competency-Based Education, among other reforms in the sector.
Association’s South Rift region chairman Alfred Rono said KPSA has strengthened itself with newly elected officials at the national level who are ready to work with other stakeholders in the sector.
Rono expressed confidence in the ability of the new officials to steer the private education sector towards growth and excellence.
In a statement following the recent elections held during the association’s Annual Conference in Mombasa, Rono praised the election of Rosebella Ojiambo as Chairperson, alongside other officials.
“The fresh leadership at KPSA comes at a critical time when the country is implementing key education reforms which require collaboration among all education stakeholders,” Rono said.
Rono, who is also Bomet Private Schools Association chairman, described the new leadership team as experienced and capable.
He said their commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Education will play a significant role in improving the quality of education.
“We have full confidence in the new leadership of KPSA. Their vision to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders is exactly what the education sector needs at this time,” Rono said.
He further urged private schools across the South Rift region and beyond to join the association, emphasising the benefits of unity, representation and shared growth within the sector.
“Membership in KPSA provides a strong platform for advocacy, capacity building, and engagement with policymakers. I encourage all private schools to register and actively participate in shaping the future of education in our country,” he added.
Rono also called on the new leadership to prioritise inclusivity, teacher development and effective implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum, noting that these areas are key to improving learning outcomes.
After her election, Ojiambo reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to partnership and collaboration with other stakeholders in the sector.
She welcomed the support from regional KPSA officials, stating that collective efforts will be essential in achieving meaningful progress.
“We appreciate the confidence expressed by branch officials like Rono. Our focus remains on working closely with all partners to ensure quality, equitable and sustainable education for every learner,” Ojiambo said.
Ojiambo also pledged to strengthen engagement with stakeholders, enhance resource mobilisation and support schools in navigating ongoing education reforms across the country.
