Vihiga Queens captain Prudence Khasiala in action/ HANDOUT

Record FKF Women’s Premier League champions Vihiga Queens captain Prudence Khasiala has rallied her side to lean on preparation and composure as they brace for a demanding clash against defending champions Kenya Police Bullets this weekend.

Khasiala insisted that their recent run offers both belief and lessons heading into the away fixture, stressing the importance of discipline and focus. She acknowledged the weight of facing the reigning champions on their turf but pointed to the team’s steady build-up.

According to her, consistency in training and tactical discipline has sharpened their readiness, even as they aim to turn draws into wins. “We know what is ahead of us, and we have prepared well because matches like these are decided by small details,” Khasiala said, adding that the team has focused on tightening transitions and improving decision-making in the final third.

Her remarks come against the backdrop of mixed but competitive recent performances from Vihiga Queens. The side has shown attacking promise but dropped points in tight encounters, drawing 1-1 with Kibera Soccer Women and Bungoma Queens, before edging Kisumu All Starlets 4-1 and narrowly defeating Soccer Assassins 1-0.

The captain admitted those results underline the fine margins at the top end of the table, as Vihiga continue to balance resilience with missed opportunities in their pursuit of consistency.

“We have created chances in our last matches, and that is encouraging, but we must be more clinical because against a side like Police, you may not get many opportunities,” she added.

On the other hand, Kenya Police Bullets head into the fixture with strong momentum and pedigree, having recorded a 4-0 win over Kayole Starlets, a 2-0 victory against Soccer Assassins, and a 1-0 away win over Zetech Sparks. Their attacking strength and defensive solidity have defined their title defence after a dominant campaign that saw them finish top of the league standings.

The two sides played out a goalless draw in their last meeting in December 2025, highlighting the tactical balance that often characterises this fixture. Khasiala remains measured rather than intimidated, framing the encounter as an opportunity for Vihiga Queens to test themselves against a direct title rival.

“These are the matches you want to play as a player because they test your level and your mentality, and we are ready to compete,” she said, expressing both respect and quiet confidence.

The clash is expected to serve as a key test of title credentials, with Khasiala urging her teammates to match intensity with execution as they seek to disrupt the champions on home soil.

Bullets currently top the FKF Women’s Premier League standings with 43 points from 17 matches, having recorded 14 wins, one draw and two losses. Ulinzi Starlets follow closely in second with 41 points from 18 matches, while Trinity Starlets sit third with 33 points from 17 games.

Vihiga Queens are fourth on 28 points from 18 matches, level with fifth-placed Kibera Soccer Women but ahead on goal difference, keeping them within touching distance of the title race.
