President William Ruto on Friday launched the construction of the Kiriko–Karugia Road in Mathioya, Murang’a County, marking the start of a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic activity in the region.

The project is expected to ease transport, open up rural markets and enhance access to services for residents of Murang’a County.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki accompanied the President during the launch, where both leaders addressed residents and underscored the government’s commitment to upgrading rural roads as part of its development agenda.

Contractors moved to the site immediately after the launch, with heavy machinery deployed to begin initial works as residents watched the proceedings.
