Initial Call and Disconnection
He stated that the incident began when he received a call from President Ruto, which he initially cut short.
According to him, the President called again shortly after the first call ended. Ichung’wah said that the repeated attempts to reach him came with a more intense tone, prompting him to react differently from the first instance.

He recounted the situation in his own words, saying, “Niliikata, wacha kukata, akapiga tena with more threats,” referring to how he ended the first call and how the follow-up call unfolded.
Second Call and Direct Response
Ichung’wah further explained that during the second call, he chose to respond more firmly to what he was hearing.
He alleged he told the President, “Now I have heard it, I am sorry, I will disconnect you, and the worst you can do is to kill me. If you will do it, do it tonight, not tomorrow.”
He added that this statement was made in the moment before he proceeded to end the call completely. He indicated that the conversation reached a point where he felt it was no longer necessary to continue engaging through that line.

Blocking the Number and Aftermath
Following the exchange, Ichung’wah stated that he made the decision to block President Ruto’s number and has maintained that block to date.
He said he did not reopen communication through that phone line after the incident.
