President William Ruto on Tuesday delivered a public lecture at the LUISS School of Government in Rome, Italy, as part of his official visit aimed at strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic and economic ties with European partners.
The lecture, themed around Kenya’s future and Africa’s place in the global order, brought together policymakers, scholars and students, providing a platform for engagement on governance, development and international cooperation.
The event marked the second day of Ruto’s three-day visit to Italy, where he is holding a series of high-level engagements focused on investment, infrastructure development and climate action.
Ruto used the forum to position Kenya as a forward-looking economy pursuing reforms to drive growth, innovation and resilience.

He outlined the country’s development priorities, including infrastructure expansion, energy investment and agricultural transformation, while also highlighting Kenya’s role as a regional hub for trade and technology.
The President further used the opportunity to call for reforms in the global financial system, arguing that existing structures disadvantage developing economies, particularly in Africa.
“More than ever before, a more just, balanced and responsive global financial system is an absolute imperative,” Ruto said.
The event forms part of Kenya’s broader push to strengthen its presence in global policy conversations and deepen international partnerships.
