Top politician grabs parastatal land, establishes business

Land grabbing has historically been a problem in the country. And the conversation is reportedly back, particularly in Nairobi. But this menace seems it won’t just go away. A big man who comes from the Rift Valley region is said to be once again being accused by residents of allegedly grabbing a prime government land and property and put up his business. The property is just by the road, offering an excellent location for the business, which has opened several outlets across the country. Residents of the area  say the land belonged to a key parastatal but it now seems to have lost the property to the big man.  But do the agencies concerned have the capacity to go after the powerful individual?

A youthful legislator from a restive region seems to be reportedly becoming increasingly desperate as his assignment to turn the tide in the area becomes an uphill task. In his attempt to demonstrate how the government has undertaken many projects in the constituency, the young man supposedly ended up even sharing projects that were undertaken and completed by the former MP. Residents were said to quickly to notice that some of the projects, particularly roads, that he is taking credit off were launched years back and have been in use.

An MP who recently changed camps is said to be finding the ground too hostile. After a spirited attempt to market the new camp faced opposition at the grassroots, the member is now reportedly  managing the situation by convincing residents that the change of heart was for their benefit. The member was recently allegedly overheard saying that residents must be wise to milk whatever belongs to them from the government and make the strategic move at the right time. Talk of politics of survival and convenience.
