Orca Swim Club stamped its authority at the Kiambu County Aquatics Inter Clubs Swimming Championship held over the weekend at St. Peter’s School, Juja, in Ruiru, emerging top in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
In the boys’ division, Orca swept the pool with 40 gold, 27 silver and 21 bronze medals. Pro Swim Academy finished first runners-up with nine gold, 21 silver and five bronze medals, while Thika Swim Academy placed second runners-up with seven gold, four silver and four bronze medals.
Orca mirrored the same dominance in the girls’ category, once again collecting 40 gold, 27 silver and 21 bronze medals. Pro Swim Academy settled for second place, while Thika Swim Academy completed the podium positions.
Among Orca’s standout performers was Amara Agak, who impressed in the backstroke events.

She claimed silver in the 50m backstroke after clocking 42.97 seconds, finishing behind Velma Waridi of Moi Girls Moi Education Centre, who won gold in 42.75 seconds. Orca’s Kendi Mwiti secured bronze in 44.49 seconds.
Agak later returned strongly to win gold in the 100m backstroke in 1:06.65.
National swimmer Jaeden Nygel also shone brightly, storming to victory in the boys’ 50m backstroke in 38.89 seconds. Troy Leboy of Torpedo Swim Club claimed silver in 44.21 seconds, while Joseph Carl of Elite Aqua Warriors Swim Club took bronze in 45.03 seconds.
Nygel is using the competition as part of preparations for the Kenya Aquatics Junior Championship in August 2026, where he hopes to secure qualification for the Confederation of African Swimming Championship set for Uganda later in the year.
The championship attracted a wide field of established and emerging clubs, including Aqua Architects Swimming Club, Aqua Elite Academy-Nakuru, Aquapro Club, Be a PRO Club, Elite Aqua Warriors Club, Fun Fin Aquatics, Genesis Sports Ltd, Gold Fish Swim Club, and hosts Juja St. Peter School.
Kiambu Aquatics Assistant Competition Secretary Margret Wambui praised the teams for displaying a high level of competition. She also urged clubs to prepare for the upcoming Kiambu Aquatics Invitational Gala scheduled for May 23-24, as well as the Minnows for athletes aged nine years and under, which will be hosted in Kiambu in June 2026.
