The Kenyan champions booked their place in the knockout stage after securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Litto Team Volleyball of Cameroon, winning in straight sets of 25-13, 25-22, and 25-23 to collect a vital three points.

Munala’s charges remain undefeated in the tournament and are yet to drop a single set — a dominant run that sends a clear message to the rest of the field.

Strong Start Sets the Tone

KCB’s service game proved decisive from the opening set, completely disrupting Litto Team Volleyball’s reception and allowing the Kenyan side to dictate a blistering pace.

With crisp setting and devastating attacks at the net, KCB cruised through the opening set 25-13, leaving the Cameroonians struggling to respond.

Second Set Battle Shows Composure

LTV regrouped in the second set, improving their floor defence and putting more pressure on the Kenyan block.

The contest became more balanced as both sides exchanged powerful rallies, but KCB’s experience and composure in key moments made the difference, edging the set 25-22.

Late Push Secures Straight-Sets Victory

The third set turned into a tense battle of attrition, with LTV fighting hard to force a fourth set.

The scores remained level at 23-23 before KCB found another gear. A powerful cross-court attack sealed the final two points, handing the Kenyan side a 25-23 victory.

Players Eye Knockout Stage

KCB’s match-winner Malyne Terry said the team remains focused as the competition intensifies.

“We knew this was an important match because finishing top of the pool gives us confidence and a better position going forward. The girls stayed calm, trusted the system, and fought for every point. Now our focus shifts to Gender Light because every match from here is like a final.”

Coach Munala Calls for Focus

Head coach Japheth Munala noted that the team showed maturity under pressure but must maintain the same level in the knockout stage.

“I am happy with how the players responded, especially under pressure in the second and third sets. Our service and transition game worked very well, but we know the competition only gets tougher from here. We must recover well and prepare mentally for the next challenge.”

Rest Day Before High-Stakes Clash

Saturday will be a rest day for the tournament, giving KCB time to recover and fine-tune preparations before Sunday’s high-stakes Round of 16 encounter against Gender Light Club, with a place in the quarterfinals on the line.
