Politicians from the Luo community have been urged to stop what was described as jealousy against Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and instead support effective service delivery to Kenyans.

Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino claimed that some politicians from the community have prioritised opposing PS Omollo, which he said distracts him from carrying out his duties.

Owino said the leaders are seeking to damage Omollo’s image in a bid to have him removed from office by President William Ruto.

“It is high time Luo politicians stopped the jealousy against Raymond Omollo. Let us allow him to work in peace,” Owino said.

He noted that counties in Luo Nyanza have historically lagged behind in development since independence, partly due to what he described as discrimination, with many residents traditionally supporting the opposition.

Owino said cooperation between former ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Ruto had opened up opportunities for development under a broad-based government.

The arrangement saw the appointment of leaders including John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi as Cabinet Secretaries, and Dorcas Oduor as Attorney General.

However, Owino said some ODM politicians from Luo Nyanza remain dissatisfied with Omollo’s role.

“They have come up with a lot of propaganda to taint the name of PS Omollo. They accuse him unnecessarily,” he added.

The legislator said he would continue to support Omollo and urged the President to disregard calls for his removal.

Owino said Omollo began working with President Ruto before it was clear that ODM would join the government, urging critics to allow him to continue serving.

According to the MP, Homa Bay County has benefited from several development projects linked to Omollo’s office.

He cited projects such as the completion of Raila Odinga Stadium, Homa Bay Pier, a fish market, affordable housing units, and road construction.

He added that the national government is also implementing projects including the Gor Mahia Ring Road, Ndhiwa KMTC hostel, Tom Mboya University hostel, Adiedo–Karabok Road, and the Mfangano Island Ring Road.

“Raymond Omollo is a key figure in development within the current administration. Leaders should focus on service delivery,” he said.

The MP also urged eligible youth to register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying increased registration would boost participation in the polls.

“Ndhiwa has slightly above 100,000 voters, but we should have over 150,000 registered voters ahead of the 2027 polls,” he said.
