President William Ruto addressing a rally/PCS

President William Ruto made a light remark during a political rally in Voi, Taita Taveta County, after briefly pausing his speech to address a supporter who was blowing a vuvuzela amid loud cheers from the crowd.

The light moment occurred while the President was addressing residents from the top of the vehicle, as supporters cheered and chanted slogans.

In a video seen from the rally, a supporter could be heard repeatedly blowing a vuvuzela, contributing to the noise from the large crowd that had gathered to listen to the President’s address.

Several attendees were also seen holding and blowing vuvuzelas.

The noise briefly interrupted the President’s speech, prompting him to pause and humorously address the supporter.

“Tarumbeta ngojea. Sasa nyinyi watu wa Voi tulikuwa tunasoma kwa bibilia ati tarumbeta itapigwa twende binguni. Sasa hii tarumbeta, kwani tunaenda binguni leo?” Ruto posed, drawing reactions from the crowd.

Supporters responded loudly with chants of “Hapana!” as the President smiled and continued engaging them.

“Ngojeni nyinyi wa tarumbeta,” he added before resuming his speech and continuing with his address to residents.

The rally was characterised by a vibrant atmosphere, with residents turning out in large numbers, many dressed in yellow attire.

Music, chants, and vuvuzela sounds filled the air as leaders accompanying the President addressed the gathering.

After the brief light moment, Ruto shifted focus to his development agenda and outlined the purpose of his visit to the region.

He assured residents that the government remains committed to fulfilling its development promises, particularly in infrastructure and service delivery.

The President pledged that the government plans to complete stalled and incomplete road projects in the region, noting that improving road networks would enhance economic activities, ease transportation and open up the county for trade and investment.

He emphasised that the government is working to ensure that development reaches all parts of the country, including historically underserved areas such as parts of Taita Taveta County.

Ruto urged residents to continue supporting government programmes, saying that ongoing development initiatives are aimed at improving livelihoods and creating opportunities for young people and local businesses.

The President also reiterated the administration’s commitment to delivering key projects in infrastructure and social services as part of its broader national development agenda.

The Voi rally forms part of the President’s continued tours across different counties aimed at engaging citizens, assessing development progress and communicating government priorities directly to the public.
