Probe as human body parts are found dumped in well in Masinga, Machakos County
Detectives in Masinga, Machakos County, launched investigations after human body parts believed to be those of an unidentified woman were discovered dumped in a well at Mukengesya village.
The remains were discovered on Monday when a farmhand, was clearing a farm near the Mukengesya River.
The worker opened a well and noticed a foul smell.
On checking inside, he saw one large sack and three smaller sacks floating in the water.
Police visited the scene in Thatha Sub-Location, Kithyoko Location, where they established that the well was about 10 feet in diameter.
It had been secured with an iron lid, although the padlock was found broken.
The four sacks were retrieved and opened, revealing human body parts believed to be those of an unidentified African adult female, alongside stones.
Machakos police boss Monicah Kimani said they were unable to establish when the woman was killed, mutilated and her remains dumped in the well.
The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the remains were moved to Machakos Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
And police in Mbeere North, Embu County, have launched investigations into the death of an 80-year-old woman who was allegedly assaulted by unknown persons.
The deceased, Felista Ngithi Mbuko, a resident of Kiarwarwa Village in Muchonoke Sub-Location, was reportedly attacked and seriously injured.
The family members rushed her to Muchonoke Dispensary after the assault, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The woman’s body was found with multiple injuries to the back of the head, chest, arms and neck.
The remains were moved to Gakwegori Private Mortuary, where they are being preserved pending an autopsy.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspected murder and seeking to establish the identity and motive of the attackers.
And police in Narok launched a manhunt for three suspects following the death of a man who was allegedly attacked and seriously injured in Olokurto area.
Joseph Njogu died at a hospital after sustaining deep cuts to his forehead and right hand following the incident reported on Monday, August 31, 2026.
A witness said he found Njogu bleeding from the forehead and left hand. The victim reportedly told him that he had been attacked by three men.
The witness mobilised assistance and rushed Njogu to a local hospital for treatment, but the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
Police officers who visited the scene established that Njogu had sustained deep cuts to the forehead and right hand.
The scene was processed as detectives commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police said efforts were underway to apprehend the three suspects, who remained at large.
Njogu’s body was awaiting removal to Narok Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and a postmortem examination.
