Boda Boda Association of Kenya (BAK) National Executive Chairman Kevin Mubadi has said the sector is fully supportive of President William Ruto and his administration.
Mubadi urged bodaboda operators across the country to desist from unproductive activities that could compromise their safety as well as national security. He also cautioned riders against allowing themselves to be misused.
“As a sector, we are supporting the government of the day. We support the President to ensure he delivers his mandate until the next general elections,” Mubadi said.
Mubadi spoke to the press shortly after presiding over a bodaboda operators’ security and safety sensitization forum organised by the Mlolongo–Syokimau Bodaboda Association in Mlolongo, Machakos County on Friday.
Over 1,000 bodaboda operators attended the event.
He further urged bodaboda operators not to engage in demonstrations in any part of the country that could paralyse the economy and interfere with the livelihoods of citizens.
“We urge our members not to engage in demonstrations. The demonstrators not only paralysed transport on the highway but also compromised the country’s economy. We will deal with anybody who attempts to demonstrate along the highway,” Mubadi said.
He added that bodaboda operators often suffer losses during demonstrations as they are unable to conduct business.
“We depend on Sh10, Sh20 and Sh100 that we work for each day, we won’t engage in unnecessary politics that end up affecting us as a sector,” Mubadi said.
He also called on those in the bodaboda business to obtain relevant documents, including driving licences and insurance.
