
Police in Kisumu County have intercepted a motorcyclist found transporting 12 bales of suspected cannabis sativa in an operation conducted by officers from Obunga Police Station in Kisumu Central Sub-County.
According to authorities, the interception was carried out on 9 April 2026 following a public tip-off.
Officers stopped the motorcycle and conducted a search, during which they reportedly discovered 12 bales of a green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis sativa. The substance had been concealed in yellow polythene bags.
The suspect was immediately apprehended at the scene.
He was escorted to Obunga Police Station, where he was placed in custody pending formal processing and arraignment in court.
Police further confirmed that the motorcycle used in the incident, along with the recovered substance, had been secured and preserved as exhibits for use in the ongoing investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
The National Police Service commended members of the public for their cooperation in providing information that led to the interception.

The case is expected to proceed for further police handling ahead of arraignment in court.
