President William Ruto today presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the revitalisation of the Voi–Mwatate Meter Gauge Railway at Mariwenyi in Voi Constituency, Taita Taveta County.

The project is expected to breathe new life into the historic rail line, enhancing connectivity between Voi and Mwatate while boosting trade, transport efficiency and economic activities in the region.

Once complete, the upgraded line will ease the movement of goods and passengers, particularly supporting the mining and agricultural sectors that are key to the local economy.
