Her appointment also accredits her to the United Nations Environment Programme, placing her at the centre of global environmental and multilateral engagements.

The presentation of credentials formally recognises an envoy as the official representative of their country to an international organisation. With this step, Odinga now assumes full responsibilities in advancing Kenya’s interests within the UN system based in Nairobi.

Her role will involve engaging with UN bodies, strengthening Kenya’s participation in international policy discussions, and supporting collaboration on key global issues such as sustainable development, environmental protection, and regional cooperation.

UNON welcomed her appointment, expressing confidence in her ability to deepen Kenya’s longstanding partnership with the United Nations.

Odinga’s posting comes as Nairobi continues to grow as a key hub for international diplomacy, hosting major UN agencies and driving global conversations on climate change and development.
