Kenyan digital creator Commentator 254 has recovered his stolen camera days after it went missing during the high-profile Majembe vs Mbavu Destroyer boxing match at Kasarani, following a coordinated effort involving fans and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The incident happened during the widely attended boxing match at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, where large crowds had gathered to watch the highly anticipated fight between Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer.

The stolen items included a Canon M50 camera and two Hollyland microphones, with the total value estimated at more than KSh100,000.

The equipment was essential to his work and reportedly contained unbacked footage belonging to several clients, making the loss both financial and professional.
Following the incident, Commentator 254 took to social media to appeal for help, describing the camera as his main tool of work and offering a KSh30,000 reward for anyone who could return it or provide useful information.
“If whoever has that camera sees this, please just bring it back… I just need it back,” he said in his appeal.

After days of public appeals and online tracking, Commentator 254 later confirmed that the stolen camera had been recovered with assistance from fans and the DCI.

Social media updates indicated that the recovery followed coordinated efforts to trace the equipment and identify individuals who had handled it after the theft.
Supporters who had followed the case online reportedly helped share leads and information, which contributed to locating the equipment and facilita.
